Can children be part of the team? Relay for Life is a family event, so children are very welcome to attend. Two adults must supervise any teams under 18 years of age at all times. All children who pay the $10 registration fee will receive a t-shirt and are encouraged to raise money as a team member. What happens if it's raining? Relay for Life goes on rain, hail or shine. Dress appropriately! It will still be great fun. There is usually some shelter at the track, but bring appropriate wet weather gear just in case! Do we stay all night? Absolutely! We'll have lots of fun activities and entertainment for those who stay with us all night. Do we camp overnight? All or part of your team may to choose to camp out, or you may use your allocated camping space as a meeting place. You don't have to rough it. Mattresses and camp beds are fine. Caravans and campervans should park in the area behind the visitors bench. Can I bring a generator? No one will be allowed to bring a personal generator (they're just way too noisy) but we are planning to have a commercial generator that can accommodate quite a few sites. These sites will be done as part of the lottery as well. Are vehicles allowed on the track? One vehicle per team will be allowed on the track to unload at their camp site between noon and 4:00 pm. ALL vehicles MUST be off the track by 4:00 pm. Can I bring my dog? Dogs are not permitted per American Cancer Society Event Rules. Naturally, guide dogs are an exception to this rule. Will food be available? Many teams will have meals and snacks available for sale during the entire event and everyone is encouraged to bring money to support their fundraising efforts. Will first aid be available? FirstHealth will be onsite during the entire event. Do I have to have a co-captain for my team? No, that is not required. It is up to you, but many Team Captains will tell you a co-captain is very helpful. Can I add team members to my team after we have already registered? Yes, you can add team members up until the day of relay. All registered team members will receive a t-shirt but we can only guarantee requested sizes for those registering by the March 31 deadline. If we need more supplies such as, collection envelopes or accounting forms, who do we get them from? Call or e-mail Carol Esau carolesau@earthlink.net 919-545-0919 What time can we set up our campsite for Relay? The field will be open on Friday from Noon to 4:00PM for set-up (no cars will be allowed on the track after 4). If we are cooking at our campsite, are we allowed to build a small contained camp-fire? No, the fire department will not allow any open flames at the event. Where can we park for the event? The parking lot closest to the field is reserved for Survivors. Everyone else must park in the teachers, students or bus parking lots. I have a friend/ coworker/ family member who is a cancer survivor but not on our Relay team. Is he/she still invited to attend the survivors lap and reception? Absolutely yes, we want all local cancer survivors to take part in the survivors' lap and reception. Please visit our website and download a Survivor form so we can properly invite all survivors. www.pittsbororelayforlife.org I know a cancer survivor that would like to attend the event but has difficulty walking. Do they have to walk the entire first lap? There will be a few wheelchairs available for Survivors who have trouble walking. Please contact Wandra Farrell at wanlar62467@embarqmail.com or 542-2820 prior to the event so we can plan to have enough wheelchairs available on the day of the relay. Who are checks made payable to?
