2008 Relay Statistics:

There were 5000 communities involved in Relay last year.
Total money raised in Relay for Life alone: $409 Million!
Of that total, $75 Million was raised in the South Atlantic Division: VA, West VA, NC, SC, GA, and Florida.
Across the US, 4 MILLION luminarias were sold!!
100,000 committee members put all of these events together
200,000 volunteers led teams
